Let me set the scene.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a regular weekday. I\u2019m in my garage, doing a dry run for an upcoming Dance Portrait Day \u2014 testing lights, setting up backdrops, pretending I\u2019m calm. You know, the behind-the-scenes stuff no one ever sees but makes all the difference.<\/p>\n

And then \u2014 BAM.
An extension cord I was adjusting snaps back<\/em> like a rubber band from a cartoon and hits me directly in the eye<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At this point, I\u2019m blinking like a confused owl and wondering, \u201cIs this how my photography career ends?\u201d<\/p>\n

Fast-forward to me at urgent care, doing my best to explain to the tech how I managed to injure my eye\u2026 while prepping for ballerinas. She tried not to laugh. I don\u2019t blame her. I would\u2019ve laughed too.<\/p>\n

Then came the coolest part:
She used a neon yellow numbing eye drop followed by a black light<\/strong> to check for damage. And yep \u2014 there it was. A visible little cut across my eyeball, glowing like something out of a sci-fi movie.
Honestly? Super cool. Mildly horrifying. But mostly\u2026 cool.<\/p>\n

I left with antibiotic drops, a pirate squint, and a renewed respect for extension cords.<\/p>\n

And just to add the cherry on top?
After urgent care, I headed straight to the dance studio to finalize the setup. The first thing Miss Yvonne asked me?<\/p>\n

Honestly\u2026 I couldn\u2019t make this up if I tried.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the thing: I share this not for sympathy (though iced coffee and snacks are always welcome), but because this is what running a small business sometimes looks like.
It\u2019s messy. It\u2019s ridiculous. And yes \u2014 it occasionally pokes you in the eye.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s also full of love, creativity, and joy. I care deeply about what I do, and I prep with heart \u2014 even if it occasionally fights back.<\/p>\n

The good news?<\/strong>
The portraits went beautifully. Every little dancer sparkled, twirled, and shined \u2014 and not a single injury in sight.<\/p>\n

A huge success.
